GAMING AT NDK!
NDK has lots of gaming options to explore! Over 20,000 sq ft of Arcade, Console, and Tabletop gaming space. Throw down with your friends in our Video Game Room, slap on a headset in our VR Space, or try one of the many Arcade machines available. Or in our massive Tabletop Gaming Dojo, you can check out a game from our extensive libarary, chat with Guest GMs and talk shop with Guest Game Designers.
Each of our gaming rooms holds tournaments throughout the NDK weekend, so be sure to check the schedule and program guide to see the lineups for each room. Most tournaments either come with a cash prize or trophy, so be sure to bring your A-game when you sign up!
NDK’s Pachinko Parlor
Pachinko is one of the most beloved games in Japan, though you don’t see a lot of it here in the U.S.
NDK owns and maintains the largest pachinko machine collection in Colorado. We are proud to offer 13 different machines to play, comprising 30 years of pachinko history and technology. Each machine has a series of themed lights, music and even robotics that enhances the play experience. Our machines feature themes that include different anime titles, as well as horror, J-pop, and video games. We strive to offer rare machines that you won’t easily find at other Japanese arcades for a one-of-a-kind experience.
Video Gaming at NDK!
Every year NDK ‘s Video Game Room brings the top games and tournaments to our attendees. Keep updated on the newest games, game consoles and tournaments for the convention in the program and schedule at the convention.
House Rules
We’ve got some straightforward rules and regulations in the VGR and they’re clearly posted everywhere. Let’s go over them real quick:
- No food or drink is allowed in the VGR at any time
- No roughhousing.
- Do not abuse any games, systems, peripherals, or staff members in the VGR. Seriously. Destruction of hotel or NDK property is an immediate ban from the convention.
- No unattended children under 12.
- No outside games, or systems. This is due to Colorado State liability laws, not because we’re jerks. No, we’re not making an exception for you.
- You may bring your own controllers including joysticks for use in the VGR for Open Play and Tournaments. However, don’t be a lowdown dirty cheater with them.
- No stealing from us or your fellow attendees. A terrible curse is laid on those who steal from the VGR: all your saved games will be corrupted and lost, right after you get further in your game than you ever have before; all your achievements will be lost to the aether!
- No whining. Please note that this rule does not say: no suggestions, no feedback, no requests or no opinions. Just No Whining.
- Please do not change the settings on the games. We have the settings arranged to ensure that everyone can play, have a good match, then make way for the next round of attendees.
Tournament Rules
When it’s time for a tournament to begin, we will check badges and hand out numbered VGR tokens. The token number is what will be called when it’s your turn, so pay close attention!
Starting: When your number is called, come to the tournament center to compete and put your token down and get ready to rock!
Winning: When you defeat your opponent, pick your token back up and keep it with you as proof you are still in the tournament.
Losing: If you lose the match, leave your token on the table. The Tournament judge will collect them.
Leaving: If you have to leave the tournament early, hand your token back to the Tournament Judge
Victory: When you win the tournament, you should be the last person with a VGR Token. Hand it over to claim your trophy!
The Golden Rule: Pass that Controller
-
The chairs in the VGR are set up in rudimentary lines, clearly indicating who’s “got next.” If you want to play a game, have a seat. As people finish, they move away and everyone moves forward. Sometimes a game is so popular that people stand in line behind the chairs – this is okay too. You know what the best part of this system is? You, the attendees, created it yourselves. You did without any direction from VGR Staff.
-
When you finish a game, check to see if someone is behind you waiting for it. If no one wants in, you’re all good. If someone wants to give it a try, pass it on. You’ll be back in no time, because they have to pass when they’re done too.
-
If someone isn’t passing the controller, tell a VGR Staff member immediately. We are serious about enforcing this rule, but whining about it after the fact is fruitless. If we could travel through time, we wouldn’t have to work for a living.
Addendum: this also includes the “winner passes” or “loser passes” rules—those rules DO NOT apply in the VGR. If you win the match, pass the controller. If you lose the match, pass the controll
